Dual Heat Lamination

Heat lamination uses a heat-activated adhesive, heating it as the adhesive and substrate travels through the laminator. This can take longer to process because the equipment needs time to heat, but the laminator is intuitive to use and can provide a stunning, glossy finish to enhance your materials.

A heat laminator can also produce a range of finishes for your media, including matte, silk matte, and the aforementioned glossy finish. This gives your clients more options for their design choices and can make your products a cut above the rest.

The materials for heat-activated laminators are typically more cost-friendly. Heat laminators require a specific type of ink to maintain the integrity of the designs. For optimal results, use aqueous inks with your top heat laminator.

Cold Lamination

Cold lamination utilizes pressures to adhere your laminate materials to your designs and media. Because the equipment doesn’t need to heat up, your laminator equipment is ready to go as soon as your designs are! This can shorten production time and aid in fast-paced environments where quicker turnaround times are necessary.

Because heat doesn’t play a role in the lamination process, this lamination approach is ideal for eco-solvent inks. However, we recommend you wait for the inks to fully cure or dry before you begin the lamination process. By waiting for the ink to set, you minimize risk of smudges or blurring.

These laminators are user-friendly and work best for smaller-scale projects where you need to protect heat-sensitive materials. The use of pressure also prevents bubbles within your lamination coating or film, giving your clients a high-quality protective layer.
