USB Connectivity Issue with Windows 10

If you are experiencing USB Connectivity Issues with Windows 10 and your Summa Device please read below and follow the steps.

Starting in late 2016, Microsoft has been rolling out automatic Windows 10 updates which seem to be causing USB Driver problems. It seems to be a fairly common issue and is easy to fix. If your computer is suddenly not recognizing your Summa printer or cutter, this is most likely the issue and you will simply need to download and re-install the USB Driver.

Steps to Fix:

  1. Download the latest USB driver here - The .zip file will need to be extracted.

NOTE: This USB driver is compatible with all Summa equipment.

  2. Turn off your Summa product.
  3. Save the file to a location you can find easily.
  4. Locate “InstallUSBDrivers.exe” and run the installation wizard.

NOTE: It is important that you save the extracted .zip file onto your hard drive before you run the installation. If you run it directly from the .zip file it may not work correctly.

  5. Turn your Summa product on and verify connectivity by checking the light next to the USB port at the rear of the machine. A light indicates successful connectivity and you should be back up and running.
